Blichmann ThruMometer 1/2" – inline wort thermometer
The Blichmann ThruMometer is a thermometer that measures the temperature of the wort as it flows through the hose. It is especially useful when chilling with a counterflow or plate chiller: you read the temperature directly and can adjust the cooling water or flow until the wort is at the right temperature for the yeast.
The thermometer is made from heat-treated, highly corrosion-resistant aluminium and fits 1/2" hose.
Cleaning and care
- Sanitise before use.
- Clean with a mild detergent and warm water, no hotter than 60 °C.
- Do not leave it in the same bucket as other metals, as this can cause galvanic corrosion on the aluminium.
- After use: dry thoroughly and store in the protective plastic tube.

Which hose does the ThruMometer 1/2" fit?
This model fits 1/2" hose. There is a separate model for 3/8" hose.
Why is a ThruMometer useful with a plate chiller?
With a plate or counterflow chiller the wort is chilled as it flows. The thermometer shows the temperature leaving the chiller, so you can adjust the flow instead of guessing.
Can I use a dishwasher or strong cleaners?
Use a mild detergent and water at no more than 60 °C. Aluminium does not tolerate strong chemicals, and it should not be left with other metals.
