Description
Low Rider – Session Low Attenuating Yeast 11 g dry yeast from WHC Lab
Low Rider from WHC Lab is a dry yeast made for low-alcohol, session and classic cask beers. The yeast cannot ferment maltotriose and therefore gives low attenuation. How low depends on mash temperature and grain bill. The result is a lighter body and lower alcohol without losing flavour.
Low Rider produces moderate biotransformation and glycerol, which add fuller mouthfeel and complexity. It highlights tropical and citrus hop aromas, with notes of pineapple, mango and citrus. That makes it well suited to session IPA and hop-forward alcohol-free beer.

Frequently asked questions about Low Rider
Why does Low Rider give low attenuation?
The yeast cannot ferment maltotriose, one of the sugars in wort. That sugar stays in the beer and gives more body and less alcohol.
How much yeast do I need?
The pitch rate is 5–10 g per 10 litres. For a 20-litre batch that is 10–20 g, i.e. one to two packs.
What temperature should I ferment at?
The recommended fermentation temperature is 18–22 °C.
Is Low Rider suitable for alcohol-free beer?
Yes. WHC Lab recommends it for alcohol-free beer and session IPA.
