LUKR Nostalgie side-pour faucet in stainless steel – EU shank
The Nostalgie and Baroko faucets from LUKR in Pilsen, Czech Republic, are known worldwide for their distinctive design and pouring qualities. They are made for people who pour beer with care, and can have a positive effect on the taste of the poured beer. This version is in stainless steel with an EU standard shank.
The side-pour faucet is a Central European creation, and you will find it in any Czech pub that really cares about beer. The Czech Republic is the birthplace of pilsner, and the side-pour faucet suits pilsner well because it always gives plenty of dense, wet foam. It brings out the spicy hop aromas of Saaz in Pilsner Urquell, and its design lets you pour quickly, with wet foam on top and golden pilsner below.
How the faucet works
The faucet is longer than ordinary faucets and should be lowered into the beer as the glass fills. Vertical faucets have a piston valve, but side-pour faucets are built around a ball valve. You open the faucet for more beer and close it partly for more wet foam. Inside the faucet is a small screen that aerates the beer and makes the foam thicker.
A perfectly poured Pilsner Urquell should have a thick head of dense, wet foam that protects the beer and seals in freshness and flavour.
Tip: Open the faucet partly (10–20 degrees) to create a rich foam, then open it fully to pour beer beneath the foam.
