LUKR Nostalgie side-pour faucet in stainless steel – US Shank
Nostalgie is a side-pour faucet from LUKR in Pilsen, Czech Republic, made of stainless steel with a polished finish. It is built for pouring pilsner with dense, wet foam, the way a Czech pilsner should be served. This version has a US Standard Shank: a shank with American threads, and it also fits beer towers with American threads.
How the side-pour faucet works
The side-pour faucet is a Central European design used in Czech pubs that take their beer seriously. It makes it easy to pour quickly, with wet foam on top and golden pilsner beneath, and it brings out the hop aroma from Saaz in a pilsner such as Pilsner Urquell.
Unlike vertical faucets with a plunger valve, side-pour faucets are built around a ball valve. You open the faucet for more beer and partly close it for more wet foam. Inside the faucet is a small screen that aerates the beer and makes the foam thicker. The spout is longer than on ordinary faucets and is lowered into the beer as the glass fills.

How do I get a dense, wet foam?
Open the faucet partly (10–20 degrees) to get a rich foam, then open it fully to pour the beer beneath the foam. A thick layer of foam protects the beer and seals in freshness and flavour.
What is the difference between US Shank and EU Shank?
The US Shank has American threads and fits beer towers with American threads. The faucet is also available with an EU Shank.
