Food-grade mineral oil keeps your grain mill running smoothly. The oil is safe for food contact, so a tiny amount ending up in the grain does no harm. If you notice oil in the malt, you are using too much. The oil can also be used to protect the rollers if you are storing the mill for a long time.
How to use the oil
- One drop on each shaft
- One drop on the outside of each knob
- Before long-term storage: a thin coat on the rollers

How much oil do I need?
Very little. One drop on each shaft and one drop on the outside of each knob is all you need.
Is the oil safe if it gets into the malt?
Yes. It is food-grade mineral oil that is safe for food contact. If you notice oil in the grain, you are using too much.
Can I use ordinary cooking oil?
Mineral oil is made for the purpose. Ordinary cooking oil can go rancid and become sticky over time.
