Frequently asked questions about Naked Oat Malt
How much Naked Oat Malt can I use?
Crisp Malting states up to 30% of the grist.
What is the difference between oat malt and rolled oats?
Naked Oat Malt is malted, so it adds more flavour, with a toasted biscuit note, as well as a creamy mouthfeel. Rolled oats are unmalted and mainly add body.
Do I need rice hulls when using a lot of oat malt?
The oats have no husk, and at high shares the mash can set. A handful of rice hulls in the mash makes sparging easier.
