Frequently asked questions about pH paper strips for beer
What can I measure with the strips?
The strips are made for wort, mash and water, the liquids where pH matters most in beer brewing.
Why does mash pH matter?
The pH of the mash affects how well the enzymes work, and therefore efficiency and fermentability. It also affects the flavour and clarity of the finished beer.
What do I do if the pH is too high?
You can lower the pH with acid, such as lactic acid, or by adjusting the water. Measure again after adjusting.
