Frequently asked questions about the glycol refractometer
Why should I measure the glycol concentration?
Too little glycol gives poorer freeze protection, and the coolant may freeze in the chiller or lines. With the refractometer you can check the mix when filling and topping up the system.
Can I use a regular brewing refractometer?
No. Brewing refractometers show the sugar content of wort (SG or Plato). For glycol you need a refractometer with an antifreeze scale.
Does it work with both ethylene and propylene glycol?
Yes, the refractometer is made for water with added ethylene or propylene glycol.
