Frequently asked questions about SafCider AC-4
How many litres does 5 g cover?
Fermentis recommends 10–20 g per hectolitre for primary fermentation, so one 5 g sachet covers 25–50 litres of cider.
What temperature should the cider ferment at?
AC-4 ferments between 10 and 30 °C. For fruit cider, 10–15 °C and a stable temperature is a good choice.
Do I need to rehydrate the yeast?
No. Fermentis states that the yeast can be sprinkled directly onto the must, but it can also be rehydrated in water for 20 minutes first.
What is the difference between AC-4 and AB-1?
AC-4 is made for a fresh, aromatic cider with apple and floral notes and keeps almost all the malic acid. AB-1 is Fermentis' all-round cider yeast.
