SafLager S-189 500 g – dry lager yeast from Fermentis for breweries

SafLager S-189 from Fermentis is a dry lager yeast originating from the Hürlimann brewery in Switzerland. It produces a clean, fairly neutral lager where malt and hops take centre stage, with light floral and herbal notes, and it is known for making highly drinkable beers. The 500 g pack is intended for breweries.

Please note: This product is only available in Norway.

S-189 suits pilsners and other lagers where you want a clean yeast profile.

How to use S-189

Rehydration: Sprinkle the yeast into at least ten times its weight of sterile water, or boiled and hopped wort, at 15–25 °C. Leave for 15–30 minutes, stir gently and pitch.

Direct pitching: The yeast can also be sprinkled directly onto the wort surface in the fermenter, at or above fermentation temperature.

Storage: Below 24 °C for up to 6 months, below 15 °C for longer storage. Reseal opened packs, keep them at 4 °C and use within 7 days.
