Description

Simcoe Cryo Hops 25g

Derived from the Greek word "kryos," meaning frost, Cryo Hops® is an industry-leading, cryogenic hop processing technology used to separate whole hop cones into two components - concentrated lupulin and bract. Each component of the hops is preserved using low temperatures in a nitrogen-rich environment throughout the entire process, from separation to pelleting.

Cryo Hops pellets are the concentrated lupulin of the hops containing resins and aromatic oils. They are designed to provide intense hop flavor and aroma, allowing brewers to efficiently dose large quantities of alpha acids and oils without introducing astringent flavors or vegetative material. Cryo Hops pellets can be used at any time where regular hops are traditionally used, but are best suited for whirlpool/hop stand or dry hopping.

Benefits of Cryo Hops

  • Almost twice the resin content of traditional T-90 hop pellets
  • Intense contribution of hop flavor and aroma
  • Reduced grassy and vegetative characteristics
  • Increased yield due to less hop trub
  • Less trub / residual material from the hops leads to increased yield per batch, and lower cost per liter of finished beer

As a starting point when developing or modifying recipes, the amount is calculated at 50% of regular pellets by weight. Cryo Hops are particularly suitable for hop-driven beers such as IPA and NEIPA.
