Sterile air filter – for oxygenating wort and CO2 systems
Sterile inline air filter from MoreBeer that filters down to .027 micron at 99.99% efficiency. The filter is used when adding oxygen to wort, and sits between the air pump or oxygen tank and the oxygenation stone. It can also be used with a CO2 system to remove contaminants from the CO2 tank.

How to use the filter
The filter has an "in" and an "out" side. The direction you choose does not matter, but note which way you first push air through it and always keep it that way. The arrow on the edge of the filter housing shows the flow direction.
The filter must never get wet. Do not dunk it in sanitiser. The outside can be cleaned with Alpet D2 or Star San.
Storage
- Cover the "in" side with a little tinfoil and store the filter in a zip-lock bag.
- Store in a dry place with minimal exposure to moisture.
- Lasts up to one year. Discard the filter if it shows any discolouration.
Store dry at all times. Do not sanitise the filter.
Frequently asked questions about the sterile air filter
Why do I need a sterile filter when aerating with a pump?
Room air contains bacteria and wild yeast. The filter stops them from being blown into the wort when you aerate with a pump.
Can I sanitise the filter?
No. The filter must be kept dry and should not be dipped in sanitiser. Clean the outside only.
How long does the filter last?
Up to one year when stored dry. Discard it if you see signs of discolouration.
