How do I measure with a hydrometer and test jar?
Fill the test jar with a sample, lower the hydrometer in and let it float freely. Read where the liquid surface crosses the scale. A standard hydrometer is read at 20 °C.
Why do I need a hydrometer?
With a hydrometer you measure OG before fermentation and FG after. Then you know when fermentation is finished and can work out the alcohol content.
