Description

Kombucha Brewing Kit 4L – make kombucha at home with continuous fermentation

This kombucha brewing kit makes it easy to make your own kombucha at home using the continuous fermentation method. You draw finished kombucha from the tap and top up with fresh sweetened tea, so you always have a fresh, slightly tart drink ready.

The kit consists of a 4 litre glass jar with tap, a self-adhesive thermometer and a cloth cover with an elastic band. The tap lets you draw kombucha without disturbing the fermentation. The thermometer sticks to the glass so you can follow the temperature along the way. The cloth covers the opening and lets oxygen in, while keeping dust and insects out.

Contents

  • 4 litre glass jar with tap
  • Self-adhesive thermometer
  • Cloth cover with elastic band

How to use the kit

  1. Fill the glass jar with sweetened tea and add a SCOBY.
  2. Cover the opening with the cloth and elastic band.
  3. As the kombucha ferments, a new SCOBY forms on the surface. Taste until you reach the tartness you want.
  4. Draw finished kombucha from the tap and top up with fresh sweetened tea. The fermentation then continues.

Benefits of continuous fermentation

  • Fresh kombucha is always available
  • Easy dispensing from the tap
  • Stable, even fermentation
  • Less work between batches

Frequently asked questions about the Kombucha Brewing Kit 4L

What do I need in addition to the kit?

You need a SCOBY and sweetened tea. A SCOBY is not included in the kit, but can be bought separately.

How long does it take before the kombucha is ready?

Fermentation time depends on the temperature. In warm periods the kombucha can be ready after about a week, while it takes a little longer in cooler surroundings.

Why a cloth cover instead of a lid?

Kombucha needs access to oxygen. The cloth lets air in, but keeps dust and insects out.

What is continuous fermentation?

You draw off only part of the kombucha and top up with fresh sweetened tea. The rest stays in the jar with the SCOBY, so the fermentation continues without starting over each time.
