Description

Simply Lager extract kit – a clean, easy-drinking lager

Simply Lager is an extract kit with 1.8 kg of malt extract, made for a clean and drinkable beer. The result is a golden, clean and crisp lager with a malty undertone, honey notes and a lingering bittersweet finish. The kit makes about 40 half-litre bottles, and the yeast is included.

What else you need

  • 1 kg of malt extract or dextrose/sugar to reach the target volume and about 4.4% ABV. We recommend malt extract for the best flavour.
  • sugar or carbonation drops for carbonation, which are not included
  • equipment for extract brewing. If you do not already have it, we recommend our affordable Starter Kit Basic.

How to brew

  1. Clean and sanitize the fermenter and equipment.
  2. Mix the extract and the malt extract or sugar with boiled water, then top up with cold water to the stated volume.
  3. Measure the OG, add the yeast and ferment for at least two weeks.
  4. Check that the FG is stable, transfer the beer to bottles with carbonation drops and let it carbonate for at least two weeks.

Always follow the instructions on the pack.

Frequently asked questions about Simply Lager

How much beer does Simply Lager make?

About 40 half-litre bottles when you follow the instructions.

Should I use malt extract or sugar?

Both work, but we recommend malt extract for the best flavour. Plain sugar adds alcohol but no body and can make the beer thinner.

How long before the beer is ready?

The beer ferments for at least two weeks and then needs at least two weeks in the bottle to carbonate.

What is the difference between an extract kit and a Fresh Wort Kit?

An extract kit is mixed with water. A Fresh Wort Kit is 20 litres of ready-brewed, water-adjusted wort that you simply pour into the fermenter before adding the supplied yeast. It is just as easy, and the beer is much better. If you are considering an extract kit, try a Fresh Wort Kit instead.
