Description
The Trub Stopper is a 2 mm thick construction of 304 stainless steel, brushed and passivated. The filter is made of micro-perforated sheet metal, not mesh, and will not wear at the edges. Supplied with a food-grade silicone ring.
All parts are detachable for perfect cleaning.
The Trub Stopper sits at the bottom of the brew kettle and filters hot break material and hops from your wort. If not filtered out, the material can negatively affect fermentation and cause off-flavors in the beer.
Using the Trub Stopper:
Lower the Trub Stopper into the brew kettle towards the end of the boil. Use a mash paddle to center it. The silicone ring holds the Trub Stopper in place and can withstand temperatures up to 180°C. After boiling, run a whirlpool and let it rest for approximately 10 minutes, so that trub and hops settle to the bottom and collect inside the filter. Drain the wort. When the liquid level reaches the level of the Trub Stopper, you must slow down the draining speed so that the liquid level in the Trub Stopper is the same as the liquid level in the kettle.
Diameter 17cm. Height 5.7cm. Suitable for kettles up to 30 liters.
Filter: 400 micron
Suitable for use in kettles and brewing machines with heating elements both at the bottom or side-mounted.
