Description
Aphrometer 0–4 bar – monitor the pressure inside the bottle
The aphrometer from BacBrewing is a pressure gauge that screws onto the crown cap, so you can monitor the pressure inside the bottle while beer, wine, cider, kombucha or mead matures and ferments in the bottle. It fits bottles with 26 mm or 29 mm crown caps. You need a dedicated aphrometer cap, which is sold separately.
Please note: This product is only available in Norway.
How to use the aphrometer
- Cap the bottle with a 26 or 29 mm aphrometer cap using a standard mechanical capper.
- Screw the gauge onto the cap until the O-ring touches the cap.
- Tighten half a turn with a 14 mm spanner. The connection is then sealed.
- Do not tighten by turning the gauge housing itself.

Frequently asked questions about the aphrometer 0–4 bar
Which caps do I need?
You need an aphrometer cap in the same size as the bottle, 26 mm or 29 mm. The caps are not included and are sold separately.
What can I use the aphrometer for?
You can see how the pressure in the bottle develops during bottle conditioning or fermentation in the bottle. Many brewers use one bottle with an aphrometer as a control bottle for the rest of the batch.
Should I choose 0–4 or 0–10 bar?
For normal carbonation of beer and cider, 0–4 bar is enough. There is also an aphrometer with 0–10 bar for drinks with higher pressure.
