Mead Kit – Make Your Own Cherry Mead (Viking Blood)
This mead kit, developed in collaboration with Mjøderiet – Norway's leading mead producer, allows you to brew top-quality cherry mead at home. With wildflower honey from Mjøderiet, you gain access to the same raw ingredients used in their award-winning mead.
The mead kit includes:
- Mangrove Jack’s M05 Mead Yeast
- 4.3 kg wildflower honey from Mjøderiet for base mead and back-sweetening
- Cherry puree (2 kg) – 100% natural cherry puree for intense fruitiness
- Mangrove Jack’s Mead Nutrient
- Stabilizers: Sorbistat and Campden
- Clarifying agent: Super-Kleer K.C. 2-step clearing agent with Kieselsol and Chitosan
- Step-by-step and easy-to-understand instructions
Details on base mead, before back-sweetening and cherries:
- Volume: 9 liters
- OG: 1.115
- FG: 1.000 or lower
- ABV: 15% – 17% You can adjust the alcohol content yourself with water and the included honey for back-sweetening.
You have the option to adjust the sweetness from semi-sweet to sweet. Cherry puree, honey for back-sweetening, and the amount of water determine the final volume and alcohol content. The result is a flavorful combination of the honey's depth and the cherries' rich, fresh character.
Recommended equipment for brewing mead (not included in the kit):
- Fermentation vessel, minimum 15L, and airlock for fermenting must
- Fermentation vessel / PET or glass carboy for clarifying
- Stirring paddle
- Hydrometer that measures high enough, up to Specific Gravity 1.115
- Optional siphon
- Star San / Chemipro San for sanitizing fermentation vessels and more
